This is Kodama.
Getting straight to the point, today I’d like to talk about LAKE, a brand that can be considered a pioneer of American-born cycling shoes. Personally, coming from a road biking background, the brand immediately brings to mind carbon soles, leather, and custom orders.
The MXZ200 and MX145 that I’m introducing today are models that are quite far removed from my usual image of the LAKE brand. To think that LAKE makes models that aren't race-oriented! What are they like? Let’s take a look at the details of the key features.
First up is the MXZ200, which has a look that works even for everyday use.

【LAKE】 MXZ200
Color: Black/Black, Brown/Black
Price: 37,000 JPY (excl. tax)
Although categorized as cycling shoes, the last doesn’t have an overly tight hold, so you can walk around comfortably in them. It’s also a winter-spec last, and having that extra room helps prevent circulation restriction.
They feature a Vibram rubber sole, providing reliable grip. BEDROCK sandals also use Vibram outsoles, don’t they?
The outsole.

You can attach cleats by cutting out the center of the rubber. It’s a stylish touch to ensure every user can use them in the best possible way.
If it were me, I’d wear the MXZ200 for a "Bike to Fishing" trip. They’re water and wind resistant, and offer solid grip. How about riding a bike to hunt for rockfish?
Next is the MX145. This one is more specialized for riding.

【LAKE】 MX145-X
Price: 34,000 JPY (excl. tax)
This model uses a wide last that fits the Japanese foot shape, and the outsole features IceLock, so you can put your feet down with confidence during unexpected situations while riding.

Pay attention to the position of the studs, too. They are set toward the outer side. These are positioned more for "bracing" than for "propelling," providing firm support for your footing even on rough roads.

Next, the closure.

The Boa IP1 reel (dial) helps with the hassle of taking your shoes on and off. It’s a great feature often adopted in high-end race models, allowing you to make micro-adjustments to "tighten or loosen" while still on the bike.
I believe that however you choose to use these models, you’re doing it right. They function regardless of the location, whether in the city or in the mountains.
They help facilitate connections with other activities through cycling. For example, you could head out for a trail ride with the LAKE MX145-X. If there’s a section where you can’t keep riding, you can just hike-a-bike and keep going! The features these two pairs possess align perfectly with the Circles concept and the "BIKE TO..." philosophy. I can’t help but recommend these shoes.
Please come try them on at the shop!
