We have prepared the 2019 models—especially our top recommendations here at Circles—for you to test ride faster than anywhere else, so let’s introduce them!
UNIT-X / UNIT-X ¥145,000 (excl. tax)
The UNIT-X, which made its Japanese debut last year, was such a massive hit that it sold out immediately upon the first order! This year, it’s back in a more subdued color tone.
With a SRAM NX 1x11 drivetrain and WTB RANGER 27.5x2.8 tires, this bike is a blast on both on-road and off-road trails, despite having a rigid fork.
UNIT / UNIT ¥111,000 (excl. tax)
The single-speed version of the UNIT-X. Although it wasn't part of the domestic lineup last year, due to our passionate requests, it's back in Japan this year. This is our number one pick at Circles! It’s genuinely perfect and absolutely excellent!
The rear wheel on this UNIT isn't a single-speed specific hub but a geared-compatible hub converted for single-speed use, meaning you can add a sprocket later on.
Previous domestic UNIT models came standard with single-speed specific slider dropouts, but this model features slider dropouts that allow for a rear derailleur. Plus, it comes with a narrow-wide chainring pre-installed, so by simply adding a sprocket, rear derailleur, shifter, and chain, you can easily convert it to a 1x drivetrain! This means you can even convert this frame color into a UNIT-X with ease!
CINDER CONE / CINDER CONE ¥141,000 (excl. tax)
This was another hugely popular model that sold out immediately during the first order last year. With a SRAM NX 11-speed drivetrain and a ROCK SHOX suspension fork, it offers impeccable parts assembly for trail riding at ¥141,000 (excl. tax)—the specs and value are truly hard to beat.
It’s a bike you can take straight out to the local trails or the bike park!
BIG HONZO DL / BIG HONZO DL ¥215,000 (excl. tax)
The 27.5+ standard has become common knowledge in the mountain bike market. The trail-smashing performance generated by the 27.5x2.8 tire volume allows you to ride comfortably through any trail conditions. With a dropper post included as standard and a ROCK SHOX Sektor suspension, the specs are incredibly well-rounded.
ROVE ST / ROVE ST ¥173,000 (excl. tax)
I feel like I say "This year, the Rove is the one to get!" every year, but of course, the Rove series is highly recommended again! This year, the Rove ST is the clear winner. It’s set up with a SRAM RIVAL 1 main drivetrain and 650B wheels. Equipped with WTB Byway tires, it’s a perfect setup for comfortable on-road riding and aggressive gravel shredding. Naturally, it’s tubeless-ready. With eyelets for front and rear racks and fenders, it’s an ultra-versatile bike you can use for daily commuting, camping tours, or even challenging yourself in cyclocross races!
DEW / DEW ¥63,000 (excl. tax)
The Dew is KONA's take on the hybrid bike. Use it for your daily commute, or to seek out the scenery beyond. This bike is more than enough to help you discover the joy of sports bikes. While models up until last year featured 700C wheels, this year they’ve moved to 650B, with WTB HORIZON 650x47B tires coming as standard, evolving the ride for even greater comfort. It’s available in "Mustard" and "Forest Green."
HULA / HULA ¥46,000 (excl. tax)
The 24-inch Hula features a lightweight aluminum frame. With a 1x front and 7-speed drivetrain, the parts assembly is perfect, easily handling rougher rides and reliable component choices. Not only for daily use, but it also opens up their range to off-road riding. It will surely nurture your child’s curiosity and spirit of adventure as they grow, one step at a time.
