It’s tonight!
Hedgehog Diner is the alter ego of Arriba, which opens every Friday night.
Since the start of this year, we’ve been having guests almost every week, making things quite lively.
And tonight from 8:00 PM, we are hosting a conference (an exchange of ideas, meeting, and gathering) on cycling and travel, titled the Japanese BIKE Tourism Conference, featuring otakuhouse, Dirty from Chariken, and Monja from SimWorks.
Of course, even if you’re not particularly interested in that, you can still come by and enjoy our delicious food and drinks, so please feel free to drop in.
Who is otakuhouse?
Among the folks at Circles, there are quite a few unconventional cyclists.
The list goes on and on, but one of the organizers of this conference, otakuhouse (known as Otahau), is one of them.
From his "Midwinter San'in Region Ride"
I decided to go just a week ago.
I was originally debating whether to participate in the Wakayama Cyclocross, but when I saw a week’s worth of snow icons on the weather forecast, I made a sudden decision.
Bike touring is like surfing—if the conditions are good, you go; if they’re bad, you don’t.
With an attitude like that, he just heads off on a journey (the worse the conditions, the better).
For more details, check out his blog. It’s a great read.

Bikepacking Gear
Bikepacking is gaining renewed excitement, partly due to the recent release of "The Bikepacking Book" (now on sale at the Circles shop) by Ken Kitazawa of Alternative Bicycles, a brand well-known for the SSJ (Single Speed MTB Japan Open) and as a distributor for Wolftooth and Apidura.
They may not be as hardcore as those guys, but the fundamentals are the same, so both the conference and this book will be plenty useful for riders who just want to enjoy everyday adventures.
This year, we have four Ride Alive events and Bike To Mori, Michi, Ichiba coming up. If you are considering participating, please come by the shop. We’ll also be holding a little sale.
Of course, Circles has a wide range of bikepacking products in stock. Please take a look at the bikepacking category on our shop floor or our WEBSHOP.
If you have any questions regarding gear, please feel free to contact us.
Also, we are now starting to offer custom-ordered frame bags—something that was previously under-the-radar and only known to a select few—in conjunction with the announcement of Porcelain Rocket from SimWorks.
We will provide more detailed information at Circles in the future, but let’s have Monja explain it at the conference tonight first.
