The X-Tra-Dry 26″ is a simple, quick-release fender made by Germany's SKS. It’s been on the market for years for 26-inch mountain bikes, but because it works as a handy fender for 700c bikes too, it’s a well-kept secret often used by track bike riders.
Sure enough, in the original MASH feature film, the bike he rides is equipped with this very fender. It’s only for a split second, but that image is burned into my memory. For details, be sure to check out the video around the 8:31 mark in the main feature!
By the way, he also rides a Hunter Cycles track bike, which is also incredibly cool. This photo is from a local CX race in San Francisco in 2009. The Tracklocross culture was already alive back then...
