Hello! It’s Uno here, staring at my computer screen for the first time in a while.
Well, 2019 is the year we transition from the Heisei era to the next. I’m trying to sound serious, but I can’t quite keep up with the changing times! (Haha)
In this fast-paced era, I want to kick things into high gear and ride my bike through the streets of Nagoya with style!
Now everyone, if there is one thing indispensable to our daily lives, it is, of course, the bicycle. But even when we say "bicycle," there are many types and many ways to use them. For instance, they are essential tools for everyday life, such as when a mom takes her child to nursery school or goes grocery shopping at the supermarket.
Sometimes, if you consider the option of "rinko" (taking your bike on public transport) to travel with your bike, you might find that you can spend some truly meaningful and special time.
When I first joined the company, I didn’t know how to "play" with bicycles. Even though I commuted by bike for about an hour every day, there was a time when I couldn't find ways to enjoy that time with other people.
However, thanks to GURUREN, held every Sunday, I met all sorts of people. I’ve since learned new ways to enjoy cycling that I hadn't experienced before—like taking my bike on the train with customers to feast on oysters in Matoya Bay, Mie Prefecture, or enjoying the thrilling downhill trails at Fujimi Panorama Resort.
I want to keep broadening the scope of my enjoyment, and I hope to make GURUREN a place that provides that same kind of spark to as many people as possible.
GURUREN
When:
Every Sunday at 8:45 PM
Meeting Point:
Near the Metasequoia Square in Heiwa Park
We all go for a night cruise together, looping around a course of about 2km. We start on flat ground, run up a slightly long hill, and finish with a pleasant downhill stretch. We usually do about 4 to 6 laps, but since everyone is free to join late or take breaks, just one lap is totally fine! Beginners and women are more than welcome, and we don't care what kind of bike you have—whether it’s a city bike, a mountain bike, or a road bike, anyone can feel free to join! Of course, helmets and lights are mandatory!
A major part of the appeal of GURUREN is enjoying a meal together after a fun ride, so we head straight to KAKUOZAN LARDER, a restaurant located in Kakuozan, not far from Heiwa Park. Of course, you are more than welcome to join just for the food!
By the way, my personal favorite is their popular Chicken Over Rice—don't forget to add the avocado topping. You definitely have to try it!
If you are even a little interested in GURUREN, please feel free to talk to any of our staff! I look forward to continuing to enrich our cycling lives together with all of you.
