Regarding the Chris King Turquoise parts we introduced previously, this week we handled installations and wheel builds for those who had pre-ordered them, so we'd like to share a little bit of that process.

We have plenty of 1-1/8″ NoThreadSets in stock (though they are running low, so get yours soon), but the 1″ 2Nut had limited availability, so it was definitely a case of "glad I pre-ordered." We replaced the headset along with an overhaul.

Next up is a custom-built wheel using R45 Disc Hubs.
We used polished Velocity A23 rims. The key here is that while the polished rims might give a classic impression at first glance, they actually feature specs that perfectly fit the modern era.

Furthermore, hubs that get better the more you use them aren't just about spinning well—they are built to be used for a long time, and are designed to be easy to maintain. Naturally, they even manufacture their own original tools for maintenance, allowing you to remove and install bearings without stress. You can even take the bearings themselves apart down to each individual ball to clean them thoroughly.

Although these tasks may seem complicated, they are actually very straightforward and clear. You can clearly feel Chris King's intention not just for mechanics to work on them, but for riders themselves to actively get their hands on them. Even if a hub spins well the moment you buy it, it’s rare to find a hub that can truly be used for a long time in the way Chris King hubs can.

The "Turquoise Project" didn't stop at the hubs. Since it's a Press Fit 30 frame, we decided to take the plunge and replace the bottom bracket as well!
With press-fit systems, parts are pressed directly into the frame, so some manufacturers don't recommend reusing a bottom bracket once removed. However, Chris King lives up to its reputation; it’s designed with removal in mind. Of course, they also provide tools that allow you to press in the bottom bracket without putting stress on the unit itself during installation.

While we were at it, we didn't overlook the stem cap.

So, the conversion to turquoise parts is complete!
Regarding the turquoise hubs, the R45 Hubs are already sold out, but we still have one set each of the Classic Hub and ISO SSP Hub. If you're looking for them, act fast!

Also, the owner had a high level of dedication, showing up to pick it up wearing matching turquoise socks.

The wheels (hubs), and the socks. Perhaps the essence of things truly does lie at your feet.
