【COCOON/PACK TOWEL】Essential gear for me.

Hello, this is Kyon. I just got back from the last ice climbing trip of the season. It seemed many others were also wrapping up their year, and the area was bustling with quite a few climbers. The weather was so warm it didn’t feel like February; though the ice was looking quite thin, I had a great time.

I had it with me then, and there is an item I always bring along, whether I’m in the mountains or riding my bike. It’s a highly absorbent, quick-drying towel. The performance is in a completely different league compared to regular cotton towels!

In the mountains, there are so many ways to use them—not just for wiping away sweat, but also for drying off gear caught in heavy rain, wiping down condensation inside a tent, or drying off after visiting a mountain hot spring.

As you can see in the photo, if you strap it to your bag and let it sit in the sun for a little while during the day, it dries out to a good degree.

I’d love to tell you to just use them in outdoor settings, but I also love to travel. Whether I was backpacking through Southeast Asia for a month or trekking in Nepal for a month and a half, I survived with just one of these towels. You can wash it in the hostel shower and hang it to dry in your room, and it dries completely in a single day. They are ideal for trips where you want to pack light.
