The Devil Named BlackCat DiscRacers
Are you familiar with BlackCat? It’s exactly what it sounds like: a black cat. Not the Yamato Transport kind.
It is a handmade frame manufacturer based in Aptos, a small town located in the eastern part of Santa Cruz.
I think you should read this for more details, but in short, the frames he crafts are akin to art. Yet, they possess a level of performance that makes it a waste to simply display them, leaving you wanting to ride them every day. That’s the kind of builder he is.
Back in Town / Sorry Sold Out..
We had already received these Disc Racers—a project Circles planned because we wanted to showcase his work, despite the long waiting list (currently 50 people deep, let's call it a two-year lead time)—but due to various circumstances, we are late in announcing them.
Lizard Green / Sorry Sold Out..
The paint jobs were left entirely to his own inspiration. The rear dropouts were also newly manufactured as an original design specifically for this project. We also requested that WoundUp build a custom-designed disc fork, which was then color-matched to the frame.
Orange Heart / Size:50(C-T) ￥325,500_
While a 44mm head tube is hard to pass up, we chose an oversized standard to visually retain that steel aesthetic (44mm often struggles to resolve weight issues, after all). We decided on the slender yet reliably rigid WoundUp fork immediately. We requested a press-fit BB.
OOP Arts / Sorry Sold Out..
Having worked at Santa Cruz Bicycles for many years (he also spent time as Rick Hunter’s assistant), his bikes are built on the premise of being ridden hard and being unique, which is why they are so beloved by many influential figures in the Bay Area cycling industry.
Black BlackCat / Size:51(C-T) ￥338,000_
A sense of wonder born from the clash of ideas, created in response to the question of what a modern bike should be and the spirit of true craftsmanship.
Science Olive / Size:53(C-T)￥368,000_
A sense of responsibility based on trust, and an urge for ownership you simply cannot let go of.
Psychokinesis / Size:51(C-T)Sorry Sold Out..
