Bike to…

The signs of autumn are gathering pace, and as I ride through town, I'm greeted by the scent of sweet olive and ginkgo. The days are growing shorter, and bit by bit, the world is shifting toward winter.

As for us, we’re constantly thinking about bikes. It’s this season, so let’s wear this, let’s put on that. I’m sliding my arms into my favorite hoodie that I bought last year for the first time in a while. The season for shorts has ended, and naturally, I’m wearing long pants. As we enjoy the changing of the seasons, it’s always the bicycle that adds color to our unremarkable daily lives.

It’s been almost 10 years since I first encountered Circles, learned about bikes, and started riding for fun. I still remember that exhilarating sensation of riding a fixed-gear bike through the city for the first time. My heart wouldn't stop racing. I loved that even a short ride each day allowed me to take in deep breaths of fresh air, and I felt like I could go anywhere.

Over the last decade, I’ve explored all sorts of ways to ride. The guy who once said, "I’ll never ride a road bike," now finds it to be his favorite way to spend a day off. (Haha)

With 10 years having passed, I’ve been feeling a sense of returning to my roots recently.

The town we live in is, if anything, located within the urban center of Nagoya, and there is no lack of convenience. Whether it’s by train, subway, or car, everything is easily accessible.

And yet, we have always chosen the "bicycle." Because in some way, it feels so very free.

"Bike To …"

It’s nothing special, just an everyday thing.

And next week is our recent once-a-month futsal gathering.
