You might be wondering, "Yunnan Province? Where's that?" It’s in the bottom-left of China, or in the context of the Three Kingdoms, the region of Shu (the area pacified by Zhuge Liang to bolster the nation's strength).

I traveled there in the summer of 2018. My camera broke halfway through, leaving me with few photos and little motivation to write a report, but I’ve finally gotten around to it.
Yunnan is home to many ethnic minorities with unique cultures, and it shares many similarities with Japan. The natural environment is diverse, and it’s fascinating because there is always some new discovery to be made.
Since I had visited once before, there were some things that left me feeling confused by how much had changed, but it reaffirmed for me that travel is wonderful, mixed feelings and all. I hope to travel around again once the COVID-19 situation settles down.
