Hedgehog Diner is the place to be on Friday, August 11th and Monday, August 14th.

It’s already August.
Kids are running around playing outside with all their might, and the moms are looking a little worn out.
The summer is, as expected, really hot again this year. I’ve heard a few people complaining about summer fatigue, too.

Obon is almost here.
Following the customs of my parents' home, I used to visit the grave every day for about ten days during the Obon period.
When I was in elementary school, I was such a sweet, ancestor-loving kid that I would go to the temple a little ways away by myself to light a candle, offer incense, and put my hands together in prayer before heading home. I actually quite liked that atmosphere.

Once Obon passes, things will accelerate toward autumn. But there are things I need to do before then.
I need to feel more of the summer.
I’d like to go to the beach, but I can’t swim, and girls in bikinis make me nervous.
So, I’ve decided we’ll just enjoy summer nights at the shop instead. Let’s do that.

With that said, let me introduce two summer nights at HEDGEHOG DINER.

"Curry Meeting vol.9 feat. Washio Sri Lanka"

Venue: Early Birds breakfast, Higashibetsuin (4-14-20 Chiyoda, Naka-ku, Nagoya)
Time: 18:00 OPEN
Admission: Free *1 drink order required
DJs: iquine (Shigebeer and A Thousand New Wife) / Shoulder Tackle (THE ACT WE ACT) / DJ Aigake (Shota Terai + Ryo Inoue)
Curry: CMC (Shota Terai / Mai Tanabe / Ryo Inoue)
This is a night featuring the three-man Curry Meeting crew that’s already the talk of the Nagoya underground scene. This event has been held under the theme of "Music and Curry." They have been actively working mainly in Nagoya. Vol. 9 will be held at Hedgehog Diner, the nighttime face of Early Birds. Deep music and delicious curry will intertwine, and Washio-sensei—the man behind the familiar Lazy Parade—will also be joining the fray under his mysterious alter ego, "Washio Sri Lanka." Even though admission is free, the DJ lineup is luxurious. You’ll definitely be able to feel the "summer" as you eat your curry and bob your head to the music.

Friday, August 11th. Same day and place as the curry event!

"Bike2sauna Conference by Otaku House"

It seems the word is out that saunas aren't just an endurance test, and various styles of enjoying the experience and its benefits are emerging. One of these is the Tent Sauna Party, where you enjoy a sauna as an outdoor party with lakes or rivers serving as the cold plunge. Otaku House and the Osaka bike shop Movement have been hosting "Bike2Sauna" events that combine this with bike rides. According to a report by Monja, who participated last time, it was absolutely amazing. It seems the next one might be held near Circles, and there may be (…hopefully) a pre-announcement regarding the details.

This time, the organizers of Bike2Sauna—the folks from Tent Sauna Party, Otaku House, and Mr. Hori from Movement—will be coming to Hedgehog. As the title "Conference" suggests, let’s all chat about saunas, bikes, and tips for hosting fun ride events! Tag your posts with #bike2sauna

After the conference, we're talking about heading to the Urbanqua sauna—just a one-minute walk from Circles—so if you're a solo sauna-goer who's been too nervous to make your debut, come join us! Just make sure to bring your bath kit.

"Engiya Last Night"

Time: 18:00 – 23:00
Price: Cash-on
Music: 90s Medley
Engiya recently celebrated their 17th anniversary. That’s truly amazing. Congratulations!
This night, which we were fired up to do for three consecutive months, has reached its final round. The past two times, a massive number of people showed up, and Hedgehog completely transformed into a standing-room bar. I want us all to drink and mingle on this final night in the middle of Obon—that would be great, right? Haha.
It’s a night that needs no explanation, so I won’t say much more, but let’s just feel the summer. Let’s drink sake. Let’s eat sashimi.
And in the end, let’s make sure Mr. Hayashi from Engiya has some sake, too. I'm also looking forward to seeing everyone who is back in town visiting family for the holidays.

Of course, Early Birds works hard every day to provide a "good morning" with breakfast, and Hedgehog is also here so we can all enjoy a "good night." Feel free to stop by.
