SURLY Ultra New Disc Hub Rear

SURLY' s Ultra New Hub is very similar to the previous hub. The hub shell has not been changed at all. It is made of machined aluminum based on 6061-T6 forging with a mid-size flange.

This hub is SURLY'sproprietary design, which allows for a bolt-on fastening method, but with a hollow hub interior. This also allows the use of quick releases, making bolt-on or quick release conversions possible without additional components.

The axle is made of chromoly steel, and the fixing bolts are made of 10.9 stainless steel for corrosion resistance, high strength, and good appearance, and can be tightened and loosened with a 6mm hex wrench. It is bolt-on to prevent theft.

The bolt caps and "cone" nuts are also made of rust-resistant stainless steel and have washers cut into them to securely bite into the frame. This way there is less chance of the wheel slipping into the frame under high loads.
