With the introduction of the SHIMANO 4700 series Tiagra, even entry-level components now feature SHIMANO's advanced technology, including quick shifting. However, the down tube shifters and bar end controllers that were previously available were no longer usable. The thumb shifter was introduced to fill the gap.
The Micro Shifter is the only thumb shifter that can run SHIMANO Tiagra/4700 series.
