What are wheels to a bicycle? They are essential components for a bicycle to move forward, and as the saying goes, "fashion starts from the feet," they also have a huge impact on appearance. These are the very important "wheels." This time, rather than talking about performance, I’d like to talk about how they are built.
In the world of bicycle wheels, there are two types: "factory-built" and "hand-built."
"Factory-built" refers to wheels that manufacturers send out as finished products; typically, there is almost no need for us shop mechanics to perform major adjustments (though fine-tuning is necessary, and some wheels simply cannot be used without some intervention). Because of this construction, they are often adjusted for a non-specific crowd or for pro/pro-level riders, and are not built with each individual customer in mind.
This is where Circles’ specialty, the "hand-built" wheel, comes in.
The advantage of "hand-built" wheels is exactly what the name implies: by selecting every component that makes up the wheel one by one, we mechanics can assemble and finish a set of wheels that are a perfect fit for the user.
