The Outback is a tough, reliable rim designed for gravel riding, MTB trail riding, and cross-country racing. This polished model combines functionality with brilliant aesthetics, and is also used in our original wheelsets built in collaboration with WHITE INDUSTRIES.

By utilizing an asymmetric (offset) design, the rim improves spoke tension balance by up to 30%, allowing for the build of a wheel with superior stiffness, durability, and stability. The rim features a 25mm internal width and is compatible with tires ranging from 35mm to 67mm (1.35" to 2.6") in width.

The name "Outback" refers to the vast, untamed wilderness of Australia, symbolizing a spirit of adventure and the challenge of venturing into unexplored territory. Its exceptional reliability and stability have earned it high praise from handmade bike builders and many gravel riders alike.

All ASTRAL CYCLING rims are designed for maximum tubeless compatibility. A deep channel known as the "Drop Channel" is located in the center of the rim, allowing for smooth installation of tubeless tires. We also utilize a "Tubeless Easy" system with a precisely tuned bead seat diameter, making tire installation and removal both easy and secure, while reducing the risk of damaging the bead. Furthermore, the design allows the bead to seat easily even with a floor pump, making it simple to swap tires to suit your ride from the comfort of your home garage.
