There are many ways to enjoy road riding.
Whether you’re pushing a fast tempo, ticking off long-distance miles with steady determination, or preferring to explore unpaved roads, if you’re looking for a single bike that lets you enjoy this style of riding—where the focus is less on competing with others and more on engaging with nature and your own thoughts as you pedal—then how about choosing a Sportif?
While we’ve been featuring our staff bikes lately, today we’d like to introduce the Sportif from Cielo By Chris King.
Cielo By Chris King frames are born as a manifestation of the craftsmanship and philosophy that Chris King Precision Components has cultivated for over 30 years since its founding.
The head tube rings, rear brake anchor inserts, seat stay plugs, brake bridge logo beads, fork crowns, fork dropouts, and vertical rear dropouts—all of these are produced in-house and are features unique to Cielo frames. By leveraging the efficiency of small-batch production while crafting each frame with the same care as a full-custom bike, these bicycles bring out the very best of steel, resulting in a machine that a rider can stay attached to for a long time.
Within the Cielo lineup, the Sportif model in particular is something that teaches us the true essence and joy of cycling.
It clears tires up to 32c, making it adept at gravel riding, yet it can still accommodate 28c tires even with fenders installed, showing its versatility for rainy-day rides and daily commuting. While this particular build uses basic components, the cockpit and wheelset were chosen with the intention of being used hard over the long haul. Velocity's Fusion is an excellent rim that, as the name suggests, successfully fuses the lightness of the A23 with the toughness of the Deep-V. These are hand-spoked solidly to Chris King R45 Hubs. The handlebars, stem, and seatpost are curated from SimWorks By Nitto.
You don't need to worry if a familiar mountain pass road suddenly turns into an unpaved side path. Riding out on this bike will show you scenery you've never seen before.
And I am convinced that this Orange color—which has been in the lineup since the first generation—really makes for a beautiful bike.

Finally, an important announcement regarding Chris King products.
We will be implementing a price revision for all Chris King products starting from January 1st, 2016.
Due to significant cost increases in the United States, including rising raw material and labor costs, Chris King has reset their MSRP for the U.S. market, which necessitates a price revision for all Chris King products in Japan as well.
There will be a price increase of approximately 10% for headsets and bottom brackets, and approximately 20% for hubs. The U.S. domestic MSRP will also increase on the same date.
All orders placed by December 28th (including backorders) will be honored at current prices, so if you’ve been considering a purchase, please order as soon as possible!
