Hi everyone, this is Yoshi from Circles Tokyo!
The temperature in Tokyo has dropped this week, making it feel like summer is suddenly coming to an end, but we’ve got our new fall collection ready at the shop. Among the new items, the BEDROCK SANDALS Mountain Clog is certainly the one to watch, don't you think?
I’ve already picked up a pair for myself and am looking forward to breaking them in and seeing how they age.
These BEDROCK SANDALS are incredibly well-suited for moving back and forth between cycling and hiking.

For longer rides combined with light hiking, I recommend strapping your Cairn sandals to your bike and swapping them out for your cycling shoes. For local trips where hiking is the main focus or for camping, the Mountain Clog makes it easy to pedal and protects your toes, allowing for a seamless transition from cycling to hiking.
Using a bike to approach the trailhead is appealing because you don’t have to worry about infrequent bus schedules, and you can get right up to the start of the trail. With that in mind, I’ve organized this event so we can all enjoy this style together!

We'll start on the west bank of the Futago Bridge in Futako-Tamagawa, following the rivers—the Tama and Asakawa—up to the foot of Mt. Jinba. It’s an almost entirely flat, 50km, roughly 3-hour ride. There are very few traffic lights, making it super comfortable. There’s also some light gravel sections that pop up now and then, which is why this is a personal favorite route of mine.
For this event, we'll combine that ride with a hike of just over an hour that follows a lush, green mountain stream. From the summit, you can see the Tanzawa mountains, and if the weather is clear, even Mt. Fuji.
We’ll have lunch at the Shimizu Tea House at the summit and wrap up the event there, so you’re free to continue deeper into the mountains, head back by train (rinko), or cycle back home. I hope everyone enjoys it in their own style.
As for me, I’m planning to cycle back and hopefully stop at a public bath (sento) near Noborito, so feel free to join me if you’re interested!

Beyond Futako-Tamagawa, we’ve set up multiple meeting points along the route—the Tama River’s Futago Bridge, Tamagawara Bridge, Kyodo-no-Mori Park BBQ area, Fuchu Yotsuya Bridge, and the Asakawa’s Naganuma Bridge and Tsurumaki Bridge—so you can join us at any point along the way to Mt. Jinba!
The route is designed so that everyone from beginners to endurance athletes can participate based on where they start, so please don't hesitate to join! Of course, joining us at the foot of Mt. Jinba just for the hike is also more than welcome!!
Since I’m a total beginner when it comes to mountain hiking, I’ve planned this with Mr. Shinno, a Mt. Jinba master and a cyclist who joins our Circles Tokyo rides. It’ll be a great opportunity to learn about how to hike, safety precautions, proper footwork, and more, so feel free to join us. If you have any questions, just let me know!
Let’s have some fun together!
I look forward to seeing you!
