Description
Adventure Rigid Fork for Continued Suspension MTB Use
WILDE BICYCLE CO. / Wilde Bicycle's ideal is to have everyone who buys a Dark Star or other hardtail frame also get this Future Proof Fork. It would solve the consumption-oriented idea that MTB standards change so quickly that new MTBs will be "obsolete" in 5 years.
Combined with a rigid fork, you can continue to use your existing bike as a useful tool for daily transportation and bikepacking. These days, you see hardtail MTBs with 26-inch wheels that are more than 30 years old being rebuilt and ridden around town with vigor, don't you? The rigid fork combination is just like that, and with the evolution of modern MTB geometry and technology, it can be a much more fun and playful tool.
The axle-to-crown length of the Future Proof Fork is "501mm," a figure derived by subtracting 25% (30mm) sag from a 120mm travel suspension fork (531mm ATC). 501mm" is the ideal baseline for optimal bike control, and it is also Wilde's idea of the optimal length for a rigid fork.
However, for some reason, many rigid fork manufacturers still use an axle-to-crown length of 483-490mm. Wilde and others believe this is a remnant of past standards designed to accommodate 100mm or 80mm suspensions. Since most hardtail MTBs used by most riders have at least 120mm of travel, they feel that the 501mm length is more practical and the best choice for modern frames.
