If you can hum the title of this blog post, you’ve definitely lived through that era, right?
Well, the rainy season has ended in the blink of an eye, and summer vacation is just around the corner for the kids. There are only about 10 days left of seeing them come home from school drenched in sweat. (Have a great time during summer break!)
That’s right, the "three-day weekend" reward for surviving the first half of summer! That’s great, of course, but July 20th is a day we must not forget: the voting day for the 27th House of Councillors election.
Voter turnout often tends to drop when election day falls in the middle of a three-day weekend.
Many people might say, "I’ve already had plans for a while..." but thankfully, we now have the wider option of early voting.
Having plans "that day" is not an excuse when it comes to the "right to vote."
"Even if I vote, nothing will change anyway."
I sometimes hear people say that.
But nothing ever changes instantly.
Not our daily lives, not environmental issues, not even your own personality.
And yet, I believe that change only comes to those who keep acting with the desire to "make a change."
We might not have the power to move the world single-handedly like some world leaders.
But it would be wonderful if we had many people around us who believe in their own small influence and cast their vote.
