Ever since Tony Meyer tested a frame with teardrop carbon tubes and bullhorn handlebars in the Zurich wind tunnel in 1976, ASSOS has been driven to change rider conventions. This prototype will be the world's first aerodynamic carbon fiber bicycle frame.
At this point, I made an important discovery. This helped us to identify that air resistance was the real cause of more cycling wear than bikes.
Meyer worked to improve the material worn by riders on their bodies. Cycling clothes back then were made of wool. Inspired by skiing, we turned to the racing suits worn by the Swiss national ski team. We then applied the concept to cycling and developed the first Lycra shorts and anatomical skinsuits. At this moment ASSOS was born.
