[SURLY] Look Back The Steamroller

As we announced in this blog post, the Steamroller is back!

First, let me just say it.
Welcome back!!!!
We're so glad you made it home.

A look back

Over the years, Circles has sent a lot of Steamrollers out to some wonderful owners.

Hoping it helps anyone who's wondering how to build up their own Steamroller, let's look back at some of the bikes we've put together!

Simple is good too!

This is a textbook Steamroller build.
It's running 700×38C tires, the maximum clearance.

Chunky tires on a slender frame look great.
I think that balance is what makes a Steamroller a Steamroller!

It keeps the light, nimble feel of a track bike while giving you a little extra room for curbs and rough city streets.
A build we recommend for anyone who wants to keep their daily riding simple and fun.

Another highlight: the owner made it their own with a paint job from our in-house paint shop, Kyutai Paint.

You can go 650B, too.

Your brake options are limited, but one of the fun things about the Steamroller is that it can actually take 650B wheels.

That plump tire volume makes a big difference to how confident you feel riding around town.
If you're thinking, "I want to ride fixed, but I don't want to be fussing over skinny tires all the time…", we highly recommend this kind of build!

And here's our top pick!

It's fitted with fenders for everyday use, and the fork is made by Hunter. What a luxurious bike.

At this point it's not just a city bike anymore; you could call it a tool for everyday living.

Every rider is different, and so is every build.
And the Steamroller rises to all of them. It really is a great bike.

You can keep it simple, or go with fatter tires for a more city-friendly ride.
Add fenders and make it your trusty everyday ride, and it's just the best.

There are plenty more bikes I'd love to show you, but that's it for today!
Let me share more another time!
