Wallet-friendly 1 x 9-speed component
The Advent X / Advent / Acolyte component was the first of three components released, Advent X / Advent / Acolyte, designed for front singles, which is the centerpiece of the current microSHIFT lineup.
I remember being very surprised that they would release a 9-speed component at a time when 11-speed was the standard. At the same time, I thought it was a very microSHIFT-like development that valued ease of use rather than pursuing the cutting edge.
Shifter lineup compatible with both drop handlebars and flat handlebars
Taking advantage of the single-front shifter design, the lineup includes drop-bar shifters for drop bars and trail-trigger shifters for flat bars, as well as thumb shifters and bar-end shifters, making it possible to choose the right assembly regardless of cockpit specifications. This is very encouraging in the current diversification of bike assemblies.
If you are currently riding with flat bars but would like to convert to drop bars in the future, you can do so with minimal cost and without having to replace the bike's componentry.
The left lever for drop handlebars includes a model that can be used as a remote lever for a dropper post.
Advent Drop Bar Shifters 1×9 / SB-M090 is available not only as a left/right set but also as a separately sold model, and the left lever is also available as a separately sold remote lever for dropper post, Advent Left Drop Bar Intergrated Dropper Lever / SB-M090-LD is also available.
The rear sprocket is a wide-ratio 11-42T / 11-46T that is easy to use on gravel bikes and MTB.
As the name "Advent" implies, this model is designed for adventure riding, and the wide ratio setting allows for flexibility in the simple 1 x 9 speed assembly. The sprockets are compatible with standard Shimano HG-type cassette bodies, so there are no restrictions on wheel choices.
The rear derailleur is equipped with a clutch to prevent the chain from coming off.
Since the bike was developed with trail riding in mind, a clutch mechanism that maintains chain tension is standard equipment. The clutch uses the unique Rachet-and-Pawl clutch, which provides stronger and more powerful chain management even in rough terrain. This modular design is also easily adjustable and fully serviceable.
Advent is also compatible with common 9-speed chainrings and chains.
