Hello everyone! It’s Chan-Mai!
June is World Environment Month.
Since we have this opportunity, why not think about the environment as something that is a natural extension of our daily lives?
So! Thinking I’d like to create a relatable, hands-on opportunity, I planned a workshop in collaboration with BRING!✂️

Upcycle Workshop: Giving New Life to Paper That Has Served Its Purpose
Upcycling is a method of taking items or waste materials destined for the trash and adding new value through design and ideas to transform them into products of higher quality than the original. It is gaining attention as a form of "creative reuse" that reduces environmental impact while creating value.
Unlike recycling, which breaks materials down to their base level to be reused, upcycling is characterized by adding new value while making the most of the material’s unique character and background. It’s an environmentally friendly approach that brings out new charm through the ingenuity of the maker.
Since we’re holding this at Circles, I thought it should be related to bicycles… so I rummaged through our warehouse. And there it was.
For this workshop, we’ve prepared issues of "Rouleur," a bicycle culture magazine from the UK, as our material. Known for its high-quality photography and writing, it’s a magazine that portrays cycling not just as equipment or a means of transport, but as a blend of culture, scenery, and human life. We had a bunch of old issues unearthed, and I had been wondering what to do with them.

And the items these magazines will be reborn as are pouches and coin cases!
We made a few samples, and the finished products turned out incredibly well! Among our staff, there’s already a chorus of "I want one!"

This workshop doesn’t use needles or thread. The process involves just cutting and sticking, so anyone can participate easily◎
Why not find your favorite page and upcycle it into an "everyday" item you can use daily?^^
